How to Host a Moon Circle
A guide for creating sacred space, sisterhood, and lunar connection
Women’s Circle
First things first you don’t need to be an expert on women’s bodies or the Moon to host a powerful circle. The magic lyes in simply gathering. When women come together with intention, they naturally tune into their inner wisdom, the energy of the Earth, and the cycles of the Moon.

Circle Etiquette: Holding Safe Space
In circle, presence is sacred. When a sister is speaking or sharing a story, it's encouraged that no one interrupts, even with the best intentions. Let her speak freely and fully. Once she has finished, if you feel called to offer advice or reflection, always ask first.
You may choose to use a talking object, a special stone, crystal, or symbolic item that is held when someone is speaking. This helps ensure that every voice is honoured and heard.
Guide to Hosting a Moon Circle
1. Planning & Invitation
Put out a call to your sisters with the date, time, location, and any items they should bring:
- A pillow or cushion to sit on (or to rest their head)
- A water bottle, mug, or a small dish if sharing food
- A journal and pen
You may wish to make your gathering a potluck, invite each sister to bring a nourishing dish.
2. Create Sacred Space
Set the tone for the evening with intention and beauty:
- Candles
- Fresh flowers or seasonal offerings
- Palo Santo, sage, or your chosen clearing tool
- A central altar (with oracle cards fanned out, crystals, or a bowl of water)
- Herbal teas, cacao, or warming food like a soup or curry for closing
3. Welcoming Your Sisters
Smudge or offer energetic clearing as each woman arrives. Show them where the essentials are (toilet, tea, altar), and invite them to find a cozy seat around the circle.
Once everyone is settled, introduce yourself and open the space by sharing:
- Why you’ve gathered
- The intention for the night
- A brief outline of how the evening will flow
Go around the circle and invite each Sister to share her name and what called her to the circle.
4. Working with the Moon Phase
New Moon
Set intentions and plant seeds. Invite each woman to write down her desires, visualising them as already blooming.
Full Moon
Focus on release. Write down what needs to be let go, emotions, stories, patterns and ceremonially burn or offer the paper into a fire-safe bowl.
(Tip: Look up the Moon’s zodiac sign or element for deeper ritual inspiration. For example, a Moon in a Water Sign (Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio) is perfect for a water ritual.)
5. Pulling Oracle Cards
Lay out your deck on the altar. Invite each sister to silently ask a question or simply pull a card intuitively. Take turns going around the circle, those who feel called can share their messages or insights.
6. Meditation & Reflection
Guide the group into a short meditation or sound journey. You can use:
- A playlist aligned with the Moon phase
- Sound healing bowls
- Guided affirmations or womb meditations
This is a potent time for stillness, personal insight, or gentle emotional release.

7. Closing Ceremony
Thank your sisters for showing up for themselves, and for each other. Honour the space, the Moon, and the journey you’ve all taken together.
Let them know you’re closing the circle at (insert time), and invite everyone to stay and share a meal or tea.
Optional Add-Ons:
- Share a group blessing
- Journaling prompts
- Movement or gentle breathwork
- Collective singing or chanting
